Terms of Service
Last updated November 6, 2026
Chip In ("Chip In," "we," "us") is operated by D&Q Developers Inc.. These terms are a contract between you and D&Q Developers Inc.. By creating a pool, contributing to one, or otherwise using https://chipinpools.com, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Chip In.
1. What Chip In is
Chip In lets one person (the "Organizer") collect money from others ("Contributors") toward a group gift, then pass the collected amount on to the Organizer or a recipient as a gift card or a bank transfer. Chip In is a software service. We are not a bank, a money transmitter, a payment processor, or a party to the gift itself.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract. Organizers must use their own real name and a working email address. You may not use Chip In for anything illegal, for fundraising that is not a gift among a group of people who know each other, or for anything that violates Stripe's or Tremendous's acceptable use policies.
3. Payments
Contributions are processed by Stripe. When you contribute, you authorize Stripe to charge the card or wallet you provide for the gift amount plus the Chip In fee shown before you pay. Card details go to Stripe directly; Chip In never sees or stores your full card number.
Collected funds are held in Chip In's Stripe account until the Organizer requests a payout. Funds are not insured deposits and do not earn interest.
4. Fees
Contributors pay a service fee of 5% + $0.50 per contribution, displayed before payment. Organizers pay nothing to create or run a pool. Fees are not refundable except where required by law or where a payment fails on our side.
5. Payouts
The Organizer chooses how to receive the collected amount: as a digital gift card delivered by email (fulfilled by Tremendous) to the Organizer or a recipient the Organizer names, or as a bank transfer through Stripe Connect after completing Stripe's identity verification. Only the gift amount is paid out; Chip In fees are kept by Chip In. Once a payout is sent it cannot be reversed by Chip In.
Gift cards are issued by third parties and carry those issuers' own terms, including expiration and usage rules. Chip In is not responsible for a gift card after it has been delivered to the email address the Organizer provided.
6. Refunds and disputes
Because Contributors are giving a gift, contributions are generally final. An Organizer may ask us to refund a Contributor before any payout has been made, and we will do so when reasonable. If a Contributor disputes a charge with their bank, we may deduct the disputed amount and any dispute fee from the pool, or from the Organizer if the pool has already been paid out.
7. Unclaimed pools
If an Organizer does not request a payout within 120 days of the last contribution, we will try to reach them by email. If the pool is still unclaimed 30 days after that, we may refund the contributions to the Contributors, less fees already charged by our payment processor.
8. Your responsibilities
- Organizers are responsible for using the money for the purpose they described to Contributors.
- Organizers are responsible for entering the correct recipient email for a gift card.
- Everyone is responsible for keeping their sign-in link and email account secure.
- Any taxes that apply to money you receive are your responsibility.
9. Our rights
We may refuse, pause, or close a pool, hold a payout, or close an account if we suspect fraud, abuse, a violation of these terms, or if our payment partners require it. We may change or discontinue the service at any time. We will give reasonable notice where we can.
10. Disclaimers and limits
Chip In is provided "as is." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, and our total liability to you for any claim related to the service is limited to the Chip In fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for the actions of Organizers, Contributors, Stripe, Tremendous, or gift card issuers.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Utah, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top tells you when. Continuing to use Chip In after a change means you accept the new terms.
